Hosting Terminology Info - D
DNS: Domain Naming System
- The DNS is a distributed, replicated that allows nameservers to map easily remembered domain names to an IP number.
Dedicated Servers
- For customers who want more control over their environment, or have a larger resource need than one of our VPS or shared hosting plans will accommodate, CyPace Hosting offers both Windows 2003 or 2008 & Cent OS 5.1 dedicated servers.
Diesel Generator
- A diesel engine powered generator used for providing a backup power supply in the event of a power outage. All CyPace Hosting data centers are equiped with N+1 generators and in ground fuel repositories.
Domain Name
- The unique name that identifies an Internet site. Domain Names always have 2 or more parts, separated by dots. The part on the left is the most specific, and the part on the right is the most general. A given machine may have more than one Domain Name but a given Domain Name points to only one machine. For example, the domain names: cypacehosting.com, ftp.cypacehosting.com, mail.cypacehosting.com can all refer to the same machine, but each domain name can refer to no more than one machine.
CyPace Hosting
Offers 63 different TLDs (top level domains) to choose from.
